Nigeria Targets 2.5 Million Barrels per Day Oil Production with New Investments
Nigeria aims to revive its oil production levels by targeting 2.5 million barrels per day (mbpd), a goal set over two decades ago when crude oil production peaked at about 2.5 million bpd.
The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) is leading the push, planning to revive dormant oil fields, unlock deepwater resources, and attract new foreign investments to the sector.
Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd (TSSNL), led by High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, has been appointed to protect Nigeria's oil assets in the Niger Delta region. Their efforts have ensured security of oil pipelines and reduced rampant oil theft.
Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Brittania-U, Catherine Uju Ifejika, emphasized the importance of additional investment in mature assets, citing the company's Ajapa field, which saw production increase after a $400 million investment.
