Nigeria is stepping up efforts to increase its crude oil production to 2.5 million barrels per day, a level it last achieved in November 2005. The country's upstream petroleum regulatory commission is leading the push, which includes reviving dormant fields, unlocking deepwater resources, and attracting new foreign investments.

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) is working with Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd to protect oil assets in the Niger Delta region. The company's security operations have been instrumental in reducing pipeline breaches and illegal tapping, allowing for increased production.

According to Nse Udoh, President General of the Niger Delta Progressive Alliance, pipeline protection is crucial to achieving energy security. He noted that without secure transportation channels, production targets falter, refining plans collapse, exports decline, and fiscal projections become unreliable.
