Nigerian Cooking Gas Prices Drop Amid Crude Oil Price Surge
Nigeria's liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) market has seen significant price fluctuations in recent months. Despite crude oil prices reaching around $94 per barrel, LPG prices have remained relatively stable since July 2026.
In May and June 2026, cooking gas prices skyrocketed to as high as N2,000 per kilogram across major cities like Abuja and Lagos. However, the increased imports of LPG since June and Dangote Refinery's price reduction have caused a significant drop in prices over the last two months.
A market survey by Daily Post found that Dangote Refinery and depot owners such as NavGas, 11 PLC (formerly Mobil), and Ranoil dispense LPG at between N945 and N960 per kilogram. Meanwhile, A.Y.M. Shafa depot increased its LPG price by N15 to N1,055 per kilogram.
