Nigeria's Crude Output Falls for Second Straight Month in August
Nigeria's crude oil production fell by 5,000 barrels per day in August 2026 to an average of 1.5 million barrels per day, according to data submitted directly to the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries.
This decline marked the second consecutive monthly drop in Nigeria's output and followed a 50,000bpd fall in July, resulting in a combined decrease of 55,000bpd between June and August.
Nigeria met its OPEC quota during the month but the latest figures contrast with secondary-source data that showed an increase of 35,000bpd to 1.57mbpd in August.
The broader trend for OPEC members saw a combined output rise by 346,000bpd to 24.08mbpd, driven mainly by Iraq's significant increase, which rose by 664,000bpd to 3.38mbpd based on secondary-source data, and even more according to direct-communication figures.
