Nigeria's Fuel Prices May Drop as Global Oil Price Falls Below $100

Nigeria's fuel prices are expected to drop soon as oil prices globally have fallen below $100 per barrel. The decline in Brent, the global benchmark for oil, is attributed to signs of Saudi Arabia increasing its exports via the Strait of Hormuz and diplomatic progress in the Iran war.

The October West Texas Intermediate contract has also declined by 4.5 percent, while satellite data shows that Saudi Arabia's oil loadings from inside the Persian Gulf have increased significantly. This indicates that the kingdom is successfully redirecting exports back towards the Gulf following a pipeline shutdown due to drone attacks.

U.S. President Donald Trump's statement that he would be open to meeting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York has also contributed to hopes for potential diplomatic progress and a decrease in oil prices.
