Nigeria's Gas Ambitions Get Boost from $3 Billion FLNG Project
Nigeria's gas ambitions have received a significant boost as NIPCO Group plans to invest over $3 billion in a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project, targeting an estimated production capacity of three million tonnes per annum.
The proposed project aims to expand Nigeria's gas monetization and LNG footprint by combining an FLNG facility with associated marine, shipping, and export infrastructure. This would allow NIPCO to supply both international LNG markets and Nigeria's growing domestic gas market.
According to Mr. Nagendra Verma, Managing Director of NIPCO Gas Ltd., the project will be subject to feasibility studies, regulatory approvals, and a Final Investment Decision (FID). The final location for the FLNG facility would be determined after the ongoing feasibility study.
