Nigeria's Natural Gas Exports Surge 19% to 733,778 MMSCF Amidst Higher Output
Nigeria's natural gas exports surged by 19.25 percent to 733,778 million standard cubic feet (MMSCF) between January and August 2026.
This increase in exports is due to higher offshore production and sustained international demand for transition fuels, according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
The total gas production reached 1.92 million MMSCF, a 4.6 percent rise from the same period last year.
However, despite this growth, domestic gas sales only reached 516,780 MMSCF, with a significant portion of the extracted resource being utilised directly in the field for operations and power generation.
