Nigeria's Oil Challenge: Unlocking Value from Indigenous Assets

The Managing Director and CEO of Heirs Energies, Osayande Igiehon, spoke at the 15th Emmanuel Egbogah Foundation Lecture Series about Nigeria's petroleum challenge.

Nigeria has produced oil for over six decades and holds some of Africa's largest hydrocarbon reserves. However, production remains below its potential due to unreliable electricity and constrained industries.

Igiehon emphasized that indigenous ownership is not enough; capability and execution are crucial in unlocking value from assets. Heirs Energies increased production at OML 17 from 27,000 barrels per day to over 55,000 barrels per day through brownfield excellence.
