Nigeria's Oil Production Surges to 307 Million Barrels in Six Months

Nigeria's oil production has reached a significant milestone, producing about 307 million barrels of crude oil and condensate between March and August 2026. According to data from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, the country's combined crude oil and condensate production averaged approximately 1.67 million barrels per day during this six-month period.

The figures showed a steady increase in output between March and June, with the highest daily production recorded in June at 1.74 million barrels per day. However, production declined slightly in July and August, but remained above the March level. The data also revealed that crude oil accounted for about 1.50 million barrels per day of the average production during this period.

Nigeria's oil production has been a crucial source of foreign exchange earnings and government revenue for the country. The development is significant as Nigeria continues to seek ways to increase output and maximize revenue from its petroleum resources, amidst efforts to tackle crude theft, pipeline vandalism, operational disruptions, and other challenges affecting upstream output.
