NLNG Eyes Trains 8-10 as Expansion Plans Unveiled
Nigeria LNG (NLNG) has announced plans to expand its liquefied natural gas (LNG) production beyond the ongoing Train 7 project. The company's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Adeleye Falade, revealed that preliminary work on Trains 8, 9, and 10 has begun.
NLNG aims to consolidate Nigeria's position in the global LNG market and unlock greater value from the country's abundant gas resources. The proposed projects are expected to increase production capacity by about 35%, raising total LNG capacity from 22 million tonnes per annum to approximately 30 million tonnes annually.
Falade highlighted NLNG's significant contributions to Nigeria's economy, including generating over $149.6 billion in revenue and distributing almost $50 billion in dividends to shareholders, including the Federal Government. He emphasized that possessing huge gas reserves alone would not guarantee future prosperity, citing the need for infrastructure development, investment attraction, and resource commercialization.
