NLNG Train 7 Project Aims for 2027 Start with $10 Billion Investment
Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) has announced that its $10 billion Train 7 project will begin operations by the end of 2027, increasing production capacity to 30 million metric tonnes per annum from the current 22 mtpa.
The project, located on Bonny Island in Rivers State, has faced repeated delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war. NLNG Managing Director Adeleye Falade stated that the company is working to raise production and address persistent gas supply constraints.
Falade also revealed that NLNG remains under a force majeure declared in 2022 following widespread flooding that disrupted gas supplies. The company needs to reach a 90 per cent utilisation rate before lifting the force majeure, with current operations at between 82 and 83 per cent.
