NLNG Train 7 Project Set to Boost Nigeria's LPG Production by 50%
The Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) is nearing completion of its Train 7 project, which will significantly boost the country's liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production by 50% and increase natural gas output by 35%. The company claims that this project will be one of Africa's largest LNG expansion projects, with an estimated investment of billions. NLNG Managing Director Adeleye Falade stated that Train 7 represents a major milestone for the country, supporting Nigeria's industrialization agenda and creating sustainable value for shareholders.
The Train 7 project is currently at 93% completion stage and will have a significant impact on the domestic market, with an estimated increase of 250,000 tonnes of LPG annually. NLNG has already generated over $149.6 billion in revenue since its inception and paid more than $47.2 billion in dividends to shareholders.
Falade emphasized that natural gas is critical to Nigeria's economic growth, energy security, and transition to a lower-carbon future. He highlighted ongoing investments in emissions monitoring and reduction, conservation initiatives, and collaboration with regulators on carbon capture and storage initiatives as part of the company's broader decarbonisation journey.
