Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG) has announced that its $10 billion Train 7 project is on track to commence operations by the end of 2027.

The project, located on Bonny Island in Rivers State, will increase NLNG's production capacity to 30 million metric tonnes per annum from the current 22 mtpa.

However, the project has suffered repeated delays due to disruptions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, as well as widespread flooding that disrupted gas supplies in 2022.

NLNG Managing Director Adeleye Falade stated that the company is currently operating at between 82 per cent and 83 per cent utilisation rate, but needs to reach a 90 per cent rate to lift the force majeure declared in 2022.
