NLNG's $10 Billion Train 7 Project Set to Boost Gas Exports and Domestic Supply
Nigeria's Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) is nearing completion of its $10 billion Train 7 project, expected to boost gas export earnings and domestic LPG supply by 2027.
According to NLNG MD/CEO Adeleye Falade, the project will increase liquefaction capacity from 22 million tonnes per annum to 30 million tonnes per annum - a 35% rise made up of new LNG processing capacity plus a debottlenecking boost across existing trains. This will move Nigeria from its current position as Africa's leading supplier towards becoming the world's fifth-largest LNG exporter.
The expansion is also expected to raise domestic supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or cooking gas, increasing it by 50% from 500,000 tonnes annually to 750,000 tonnes. This could ease pressure on cooking gas prices for millions of Nigerian households competing with export demand.
