NNPC Aims for 3 Million Barrels per Day Crude Production
Nigeria's state-owned oil company, NNPC Ltd, is planning to raise its crude production to three million barrels per day and gas output to 12 billion standard cubic feet per day. The company's Group Chief Executive Officer, Bashir Bayo Ojulari, announced this plan while reviewing the company's performance in 2025.
Ojulari said that despite a softer oil price environment due to geopolitical tensions, trade frictions, and increased supply from both OPEC+ and non-OPEC+ producers, Nigeria's operating environment improved during the year. The country experienced steady GDP growth, moderating inflation, a stronger and more stable naira, and increased foreign capital inflows.
The NNPC CEO attributed the increase in oil and condensate production to new well additions, targeted interventions at OML 13, and improved asset integrity. Natural gas production rose by nine percent due to stronger performance from projects such as Uzu field gas and Agbada NAG Train 1.
