Nord Gas Solutions Powers EemsEnergyTerminal Expansion
Nord Gas Solutions has been selected to supply a liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification system module for Exmar, a Belgian provider of liquid gas transportation and floating LNG infrastructure. The system will be installed on an FSRU as part of the expansion of the EemsEnergyTerminal in Eemshaven, Netherlands.
The EemsEnergyTerminal began commercial operations in 2022, aiming to strengthen energy security and reduce reliance on Russian natural gas in the Netherlands. Jointly owned by Gasunie and Vopak, the terminal receives LNG via ship, regasifies it, and injects the natural gas into the national transmission network.
The facility currently supplies approximately 282.52 bcf (8 bcm) of natural gas annually, making a significant contribution to the Netherlands' energy needs. The owners have reached a final investment decision to expand the facility's import capacity to 303.7 bcf (8.6 bcm) per year, equivalent to roughly 25% of the Netherlands' annual natural gas demand.
