North Battleford Secures Lower Natural Gas Rate with Twin Eagle
North Battleford has secured a lower natural gas rate for its residents after city council approved a one-year agreement with Twin Eagle. The fixed-price deal, which will last from November 1, 2026, to October 31, 2027, locks in a rate of $2.58 per gigajoule, significantly below the current provider's offer and SaskEnergy's projected rate.
The city council was cautious about potential tariffs or worsening Canada-U.S. trade tensions affecting the deal but ultimately decided to go with Twin Eagle, a Houston-based independent physical energy marketer and logistics provider that markets over five billion cubic feet of wholesale natural gas per day across North America.
The lower rate is expected to provide certainty for the city's residents over their natural gas costs for the next year, shielding them from day-to-day market fluctuations. The agreement comes as a welcome relief in an uncertain energy market.
