Northern B.C. Communities Thrive Thanks to LNG Projects

At the Get It Done B.C. event, First Nations leaders and energy researchers highlighted the benefits of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Northern British Columbia.

The study, conducted by Energy for a Secure Future and Itotem Analytics, tracked key metrics across 20 municipalities and 21 First Nations along the infrastructure corridor.

It found that LNG Canada Phase 1 and the Coastal GasLink pipeline created over 75,500 jobs, with about $6 billion going to B.C. businesses and local and Indigenous businesses securing $5 billion.

The number of registered nurses increased by 20% (from 609 to 727 per 100,000 people), high school completion rates climbed, and more than 750 scholarships were awarded to young people.
