Norway's Big Three Join Forces to Find Next Generation of Oil Fields
Three major Norwegian oil and gas producers - Equinor, Aker BP, and Vår Energi - are joining forces to explore new fields on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The partnership aims to pool their expertise, seismic data, technology, and drilling capacity to pursue high-impact prospects.
The collaboration comes as Norway seeks to offset an expected decline in oil production after 2035. Equinor has stated that new discoveries will be necessary to maintain output well into the next decade.
Under this initiative, the companies intend to mature and evaluate around 20 to 25 exploration opportunities over the next four to five years. They aim to drill about five high-impact wells annually.
