Novorossiysk Grain Terminals Halt Operations After Ukrainian Drone Strikes

Russia's grain exports are facing new challenges due to Ukrainian drone strikes on the country's southern port of Novorossiysk. Four industry sources told Reuters that two major grain terminals in the area have suspended operations following the attacks.

The Novorossiysk grain terminal, with an export capacity of 8.5 million metric tons per year, has been damaged and is undergoing assessment, while NKHP, another large grain terminal at the port, has also halted operations due to damage.

Russia is the world's largest wheat exporter, and most of its exports are shipped via the Black Sea ports like Novorossiysk. The main grain lobby group had warned last month that Ukrainian drone attacks could shut down grain exports via the Black Sea in the near future, leading to higher prices and potential hunger in Africa and the Middle East.
