The National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India is set to launch its first domestic natural gas futures contract on July 27, 2026. The new contract will trade under the ticker symbol NATGASIND and is linked to the Indian Gas Exchange's Gujarat (Dahej) hub price.

The NATGASIND contract will be a cash-settled derivative, meaning no physical delivery of natural gas will take place at expiry. Trades executed at government-mandated ceiling prices will be excluded from the settlement calculation.

The final settlement price will use the monthly weighted average price of gas delivered at the IGX hub during the contract period. This new contract is designed to provide an exchange-traded energy derivative linked to a local price benchmark, catering to producers, consumers, and traders in the domestic natural gas market.
