NSE Partners with Augmont to Promote Electronic Gold Receipts in India
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has partnered with Augmont Gold Tech to promote electronic gold receipts, aiming to simplify and deepen India's organized gold market.
Under the partnership, Augmont will provide technical support for the development of electronic gold receipts (EGRs), which are dematerialized securities representing physical gold stored in Sebi-accredited vaults. This allows investors to participate in the gold market in smaller denominations and provides liquidity similar to other financial instruments.
The NSE said the partnership is aimed at strengthening the gold trading ecosystem by improving price discovery and market participation, while enhancing transparency and trust among jewellers, refiners, traders, and institutional investors. The initiative also seeks to make gold investment more accessible to investors across the nation.
