NYMEX Precious Metals Prices See Gains on August 17
New York's NYMEX (New York Merchantile Exchange) reported an increase in precious metals prices on August 17. The NYMEХ is a US futures market founded in 1882, with two divisions: the NYMEX Division and the COMEX Division.
The NYMEX Division handles trades of oil, gas, platinum, palladium, ethanol, coal, electricity, and carbon dioxide emissions. In contrast, the COMEX Division is responsible for gold, silver, copper, and aluminum trades.
Precious metals prices were up across the board on August 17, with gold futures increasing by 0.51% to $4396.40 per troy ounce (31.1 grams). Silver futures also saw a significant rise, up by 1.74% to $66.12 per troy ounce.
The price of platinum futures was up by 0.30% to $1762.00 per troy ounce.
