OECD Sees Global Growth at 2.9% in 2026 Amid Middle East Uncertainty
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has published its latest economic projections, predicting global growth to reach 2.9% in 2026 before expanding by 3.0% in 2027.
This forecast is based on a technical assumption that Brent crude oil prices will peak in the fourth quarter of 2026 and then decline steadily through the end of 2027, with gas prices also expected to follow a similar trajectory.
The OECD warned that continued uncertainty surrounding the conflict in the Middle East poses a significant risk to the global economic outlook, potentially leading to sustained increases in energy prices and shortages of key commodities.
