Ogoni Youths Demand Participation in Oil Resumption Talks
Young people from Ogoniland are demanding meaningful participation in discussions about the possible resumption of oil and gas activities in their region. The call was made by the Ogoni Oil and Gas Host Communities Youths Association, along with the Ogoni National Youth Congress.
The renewed talks come after more than three decades of suspended oil production in Ogoniland. The Federal Government has been pursuing engagement on the possible return of oil production, with NNPC and other stakeholders involved in the process.
The youths are asking to be part of the decision-making process, particularly regarding decisions that could affect their environment, economy, employment opportunities, and future.
