Oil Barons Retire #16 for All-Time Leading Scorer Travis Gladue
The Oil Barons have retired jersey number 16 in honor of Travis Gladue, their all-time leading scorer. Gladue played for the team from 1996 to 2001 and was a key figure in two of their most successful periods.
During his rookie season, he helped the team capture the 1997 Alberta Junior Hockey League Title. He later played on the celebrated 1999-2000 squad that won the AJHL Championship and Doyle Cup. The team's national Junior A crown is considered one of the most memorable moments in Fort McMurray hockey history.
Gladue set career records for the Oil Barons with 122 goals and 262 points, marks that still stand over 25 years later. He represented the team, the city, and his First Nation with pride, helping build a lasting culture of excellence.
