Oil Giants Cash In On Wartime Crude Prices
The world's top oil companies, including Chevron and ExxonMobil, have reported record-breaking profits thanks to high crude prices caused by wartime disruptions in the Middle East.
Average daily profits for the three companies reached $404 million over the past quarter, with ExxonMobil earning a total of $14.5 billion, Chevron at $12.1 billion, and Shell at $9.8 billion.
The conflict between Iran and other countries in the region has severely impacted oil exports, leading to higher prices for fuel and refined products like gasoline and diesel.
In response, some lawmakers are calling for windfall taxes on oil companies to redistribute excess profits to consumers.
