Indian stocks are poised for a positive start on Thursday as oil prices ease following news that talks between Iran and Qatar may open the key Strait of Hormuz.

The Nifty futures were at 24,360.50 points as of 8:12 a.m. IST, indicating a higher opening for the Nifty 50 index, which closed at 24,207.75 on Wednesday.

The benchmark Brent crude oil price fell 0.5% to $87.50 a barrel after Iran said it was working with Oman to finalize details of an agreement concerning the Strait of Hormuz, reducing concerns over prolonged oil supply disruptions from the Middle East conflict.
