Oil Price Slide Boosts Wall Street Amid Strong Earnings
Wall Street hovered near its record high Tuesday in a relatively quiet day for markets worldwide.
The S&P 500 rose 0.1% and was sitting 0.4% below its all-time high set last month, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 168 points or 0.3% as of 1:55 p.m. Eastern time.
The price for Brent crude briefly dropped below $98 in the morning but later trimmed losses and stood at $99.66 per barrel, down from nearly $110 it touched last week.
AutoZone stock rose 6.1% after reporting a stronger profit than analysts expected, while Thor Industries' shares increased 5.1% despite facing challenges with high fuel prices, interest rates, and inflation.
