Oil Price Surge Sends Stocks Tumbling
Oil prices rose on Monday, putting pressure on the U.S. bond market and pushing stocks lower.
The S&P 500 fell 0.5% and gave back some of its gains from last week, which had brought it to the brink of its all-time high.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 329 points, or 0.6%, as of 9:35 a.m. Eastern time, and the Nasdaq composite was 0.5% lower.
