Oil Prices Climb on Houthi Attacks on Saudi Aramco Sites
Oil prices saw an uptick on Monday following reports of attacks on key Saudi Aramco facilities by Yemen's Houthis. The Iran-backed group claimed responsibility for launching ballistic missiles and drones targeting sites in Riyadh and the Khurais area, sparking concerns over potential disruptions to oil production in the region.
In response to the news, Brent crude futures rose by 81 cents, or 0.79%, reaching $103.06 a barrel by 2202 GMT. Meanwhile, US West Texas Intermediate crude climbed 46 cents, or 0.50%, to $91.57 a barrel. The attacks heightened fears of supply interruptions from the world's top oil exporter, contributing to the price increases.
