Oil Prices Decline as US-Iran Talks and Saudi Pipeline Restart Ease Supply Concerns
Crude oil prices declined for a fifth consecutive session on September 24, 2026, due to easing supply concerns. The United States held hours-long talks with Iran, and Saudi Arabia moved closer to restarting its East-West oil pipeline. As a result, Brent crude futures rose by 3.94% to $102.27 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures increased by $2.19 or 2.45% to $91.48 per barrel.
US President Donald Trump stated that American and Iranian representatives held a three-hour meeting, describing the talks as 'very good.' This raised hopes for diplomatic engagement to ease tensions in the Middle East and reduce disruptions to global oil supplies.
Saudi Arabia has started preparations to restart its East-West oil pipeline, which was damaged in a drone attack on September 10. The pipeline is an important alternative route for Saudi crude exports, allowing shipments to bypass the Strait of Hormuz.
