Oil Prices Dip as Investors Weigh Iran Tensions and Supply Recovery
Oil prices dipped on Friday as investors weighed the risk of further escalation in U.S.-Iran tensions against signs of recovery in regional supply flows.
The price drop came after a surge of over $4 for December Brent crude and more than $2 for WTI crude on Thursday, following reports that Washington was considering deploying another aircraft carrier group and additional troops to the Middle East.
President Donald Trump suggested to Time magazine that U.S. military action against Iran could restart after the midterm elections in November, saying he doesn't believe 'you could ever have peace' with Tehran.
Gulf exports have shown signs of recovery, with Saudi Arabia restarting operations on its east-west pipeline and resuming tanker loadings from Yanbu. However, markets remain sensitive to any disruption to tanker traffic or regional infrastructure.
