Oil Prices Dip as Trump Suggests US Strikes on Iran May Be Short-Lived

Oil prices dipped after a three-day rally as President Donald Trump suggested that US strikes on Iran may be short-lived.

The Brent crude price slipped 0.8% to $94.90 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate fell by 0.6% to $90.47 a barrel.

Trump's comments came after the US military carried out renewed strikes on Iran, which had retaliated with drone and missile attacks on American bases across the Middle East.

Economists say that both the US and Iran are looking for off-ramps in the conflict, but neither side has shown a willingness to negotiate since an interim peace accord collapsed in June.
