Oil Prices Dip, Wall Street Stocks Close Mixed Amid Escalating Tensions
Wall Street stocks closed on a mixed note Friday as oil prices declined for the first time in a week. The S&P 500 index barely budged, rising just 3.68 points to 7,411.98. It marked its second consecutive losing week, a rare occurrence not seen since March.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 235.60 points to 51,947.25, while the Nasdaq fell 161.87 points to 24,975.82. Micron Technology and Broadcom led losses in tech stocks, which weighed down the market.
Concerns about escalating tensions in the Middle East and its impact on oil supplies continued to pressure investors. Heavy fighting has weakened buffers in the energy market, including US strategic reserves.
