Oil Prices Down, Fuel Costs Still High Amid Global Tensions
The Strait of Hormuz is open and oil flow has been maintained despite recent tensions between Iran and the US, according to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The secretary stated that Iran has three options: turn on each other, have the Iranian people rise up, or come to the table and stick to a deal.
Oil prices have decreased, with November crude closing at $93.65 a barrel and December crude at $90.68, down $3 and $2 for the week respectively. However, fuel prices remain high, leading some to question why this is the case and when they will drop.
Analyst John Hall notes that grain markets are closely tied to oil prices and may be affected by current events. He also highlights Brazil's increasing corn and soybean production and exports, which could impact global supply chains.
