Oil Prices Drop on US-Iran Diplomatic Hopes
Oil prices took a hit on Wednesday as talks between the US and Iran at the UN meeting raised hopes of a diplomatic solution to the conflict in the Middle East. Brent crude futures for November delivery dropped 0.75% to $98.51 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures fell by 1.03% to $89.59 per barrel.
President Donald Trump said that US officials had a 'very good meeting' with Iran's delegation, lasting around three hours. This development has sparked optimism among oil traders, who believe that supply disruptions could ease in the coming days.
Paolo Broccardo, CEO of private digital bank BankPro, echoed this sentiment, stating that Pakistan's mediation efforts with Tehran could reduce the risk of a broader escalation. He also noted that oil prices are unlikely to surge significantly for now, citing the 12% drop in the past five consecutive sessions.
