Oil Prices Edge Down Amid Hopes for Hormuz Reopening
The global oil market saw a slight dip in prices on August 27 as discussions between Iran and Oman raised hopes of reopening the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
The Brent crude futures price dropped by 0.7% to $87.24 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) fell by 0.7% to $81.67 per barrel.
The Strait of Hormuz is a crucial waterway that handles nearly one-fifth of global oil and gas consumption, although shipments have recently decreased significantly due to regional conflicts.
Despite diplomatic efforts aiming to restore maritime traffic, supply tightness concerns persist in the market.
