Oil Prices Plummet 6% as US-Iran Tensions Eased
Crude oil prices plummeted nearly 6% after the US and Iran agreed to pause military strikes, easing concerns over potential supply disruptions in the Middle East.
The sudden drop in prices came as investors shifted their focus from geopolitical risks to stable energy supplies, bringing relief to oil-importing countries such as India.
Brent crude futures fell to around $89 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude slipped to nearly $83 per barrel.
The decline in oil prices is a positive development for the Indian economy, as it can help reduce the country's import bill, ease inflationary pressures, improve the fiscal balance, and support sectors such as aviation, paints, chemicals, and oil marketing companies.
