Oil Prices Plummet as Hormuz Conflict Mediation Efforts Continue
Oil prices have fallen significantly since the start of this week due to ongoing mediation efforts between Washington and Tehran aimed at ending the conflict that has disrupted shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Brent crude futures price has dropped by more than 12% since Monday, with a significant decline on Tuesday below $80 per barrel for the first time since July 13, according to Reuters.
Priyanka Sachdeva, Head of Market Analysis at Phillip Nova, warned that if diplomatic efforts fail and actual supplies are affected, the current downturn may be short-lived, as lower inventories will amplify the impact of any future supply shock.
