Oil Prices Plummet as US-Iran Tensions Ease
Oil prices declined sharply on Sunday, retreating from their two-month high of $102 per barrel reached last week. The price of Brent crude oil for September delivery dropped to $92.02, marking a decline of 4.9% soon after trading resumed.
This downward trend came as tensions eased between the United States and Iran, with both nations refraining from any military action in the Persian Gulf for the second consecutive day.
The recent surge in oil prices has been largely attributed to heightened conflict in the Middle East and concerns that escalated tensions could lead to disruptions in global crude supply. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route, has become a focal point of concern.
Oil producers have been exploring alternative shipping routes; however, these have not been without challenges. Recently, Saudi oil tankers using the Red Sea faced attacks, threatening to exacerbate supply constraints.
