Crude oil prices have taken a hit on renewed hopes of a peace agreement between the United States and Iran. The decline came after US President Donald Trump announced that a planned major attack had been called off, allowing for talks with Iran to resume.

The price drop was significant, with Brent crude falling by 5.14% to $83.41 per barrel and WTI crude slipping below the $80-per-barrel mark to $79.76 per barrel.

This is a reversal of the trend seen in July when international crude oil prices surged by nearly 25% amid escalating tensions between the US and Iran, raising concerns over global inflation.
