Oil Prices Plunge as EUR/USD Edges Higher in New York Trading
The EUR/USD pair edged higher in New York foreign exchange trading on August 25th, closing at $1.1675 after a previous day's close of $1.1664.
This move was driven by plummeting oil prices and expectations that negotiations toward a U.S.-Iran ceasefire were making progress.
The decline in WTI crude oil futures exceeded 3%, causing the market to shift towards euro buying and dollar selling.
The benchmark U.S. 10-year Treasury yield also fell to the 4.61% range, further encouraging dollar selling and pushing EUR/USD to a session high of $1.1680 shortly after 5:00 a.m.
