Oil Prices Predicted to Plummet Following Iran Conflict
US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned that oil prices could plummet to $40-$50 per barrel once tensions with Iran ease. Currently, oil is trading at around $95 per barrel.
The forecast comes as the US and European Union impose economic sanctions on Iran in response to ongoing conflict. According to Bessent, the prolonged standoff could extend until 2027, significantly impacting global oil markets.
Oversupply in the market is cited as a primary reason for the potential price drop. The conflict's duration and international responses will heavily influence the supply-demand equilibrium in energy markets.
