Oil Prices, Rising Bond Yields Trigger Volatility in Indian Stock Markets
Indian stock markets experienced volatility on Friday as oil prices and rising bond yields weighed on investor sentiment. The Sensex benchmark index initially rebounded in early trade, climbing 86 points to 73,672.98, while the Nifty rose 18.80 points to 23,080.45.
However, market trends turned downward later in the day, with the Sensex dipping 12.95 points to 73,568.22 and the Nifty falling 16.75 points to 23,049.40.
Larsen & Toubro, Axis Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra, Power Grid, State Bank of India, HCL Tech, and Bajaj Finance were among the top gainers in the Sensex index.
Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra, and NTPC were among the laggards. Brent crude oil prices remained high at USD 105.5 per barrel, posing a challenge to equity markets globally and for India if sustained.
