Oil Prices Slide Amid Diverging Global Markets
Crude oil prices declined on Wednesday evening as global markets continued to diverge. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil fell by 1.11% to $95.92 a barrel, while Brent crude dropped 0.47% to $102.46 a barrel.
The decline in oil prices followed a mixed performance across other assets. The Europe 50 index slipped 0.91%, while the U.K.'s FTSE 100 rose 0.09% and Germany's DAX 40 gained 0.05%. Precious metals, however, moved higher, with gold increasing by 0.23% to $4,298.50 an ounce and silver rising 0.92% to $64.376.
The U.S. dollar also showed mixed movements against other currencies, appreciating 0.01% against the offshore yuan but falling 0.15% against the yen.
