Oil Prices Slide as Eased Saudi Disruption Concerns Offset Middle East Tensions
Oil prices declined on Friday for a third consecutive session as concerns over Saudi supply disruptions eased, outweighing anxiety about an escalating conflict in the Middle East. The Brent crude futures contract fell by $1.65, or 1.6%, to US$103.17 per barrel at 1008 GMT.
U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures were down 61 cents, or 0.6%, at US$101.30. This decline in oil prices comes as tensions persist in the Middle East, with no signs of abating.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical chokepoint for global oil supplies, but the impact on oil prices appears to be minimal for now.
