Oil Prices Slide as Middle East Supply Concerns Ease
Oil prices continued their decline on September 18th, building on a two-day losing streak as concerns over Middle East supply eased.
The Brent crude price fell to around $103.7 per barrel, while WTI slipped to about $100.9. The Murban crude price dropped by 1.95% to $121.
The pullback in global energy markets is attributed to logistical workarounds and infrastructural recovery efforts, which have cushioned the market's anxiety over the ongoing US-Iran conflict.
US Energy Secretary Chris Wright stated that the disruption caused by the attack on Saudi Arabia's East-West oil pipeline was expected to last 'days' rather than a prolonged shutdown.
The pipeline carries crude from Saudi Arabia's eastern region to the Red Sea port of Yanbu, providing an alternative route that reduces dependence on the Strait of Hormuz. Reports of progress in repairs have contributed to a relief rally on Wall Street.
