Oil Prices Slip Amid Saudi Tensions; Gold Holds Steady on Inflation Worries
Oil prices declined on September 21 as investors assessed prospects of recovering Saudi shipments amid heightened Middle East tensions. Brent crude futures dropped 81 cents, or 0.78%, to $103.06 a barrel after settling down 0.91% on Friday.
The US Federal Reserve's first rate hike since 2023 has traders weighing the risk of persistent inflation and interest rates. Gold was steady at around $4,375 an ounce, posting a moderate gain the week before.
Silver rose 0.2% to $66.38 an ounce as platinum and palladium edged higher. The dollar traded in a tight range against Group-of-10 peers ahead of leaders' meetings during the United Nations General Assembly.
