Oil Prices Slip Below $100 as Middle Eastern Tensions Persist
Oil prices continued to decline on Thursday, September 17, 2026, with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) dropping 1.55% to $100.80 a barrel and Brent crude falling 2.16% to $103.50 a barrel.
This latest downturn marks the second consecutive session of losses for both benchmarks, which are reassessing the impact of supply disruptions in the Middle East.
The decline has pushed WTI to its lowest level in about a week, although prices remain above the $100-a-barrel threshold.
Despite the pullback, oil prices are still significantly higher than at the start of last week, when WTI traded around $92-93 a barrel and Brent near $97.
